Hi Josh,

A kit comprised of Philips componets means that the components used in the kit conform to quality standards and certain requirements. There are so many aftermarket manufacturers coming out with all types of bulbs, ballasts, igniters, etc.. at such low prices that the market is flooded. This is why you see HID kits selling on ebay for $99.99. The problem is you really dont know what you're getting.

Having said all that, the Xtreme kit is not one of these kits. The components used in this kit adhere to strict quality standards and requirements. We have been selling this line for a several years now. If the quality wasnt there, we would not be carrying this line nor would we be adding the 4000k and 5000k line. This kit does use Japanese components.

Normally we do offer CL members discounted prices.

However, the current website prices reflect the lowest prices we have ever offered on our products. The current website price is lower than any previously advertised group buy price.

Hello,

The Xtreme kit works great! We have been selling the line for approx 4 years now with very positive results. The Xtreme kit uses Japanese bulbs. The balalsts are water tight and you will also get the full wiring harness (same as the XenonDepot kit). Light output between the 4300k and 4000k kits will be very very similar. If you want a slight bluish tinge, I would suggest going with the 5000k setup. The 6000k kit will have a purplish output.

Default 4300 vs. 5000

Hi Steve,

I'm sorry to beat a possibly dead horse - I'm just trying to fully understand...
I had inquired you awhile back, because I wanted to purchase what most closely resembled OEM, which you said was the 4300 (highest lumen output as well). So, how does the 5000 kit compare in lumen/light output to the 4300. Slightly more bluish is okay with me - just concerned about the output.

Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric,

OEM HID use 4300k.

THe 4300k kit will get you a bright white output with a slight bluish/yellowish tinge whereas the 6000k kit will provide you with a bright white output with a slight purpulish tinge. Please view this link:

Hi Eric,

Light output between the 4300k and 5000k will be very similar. Whether you go with the 4k or 5k kits you will still be getting significantly more light output than stock. The 5k kit will just have a very slight bluish tinge making the light output look crisp. The 4k still has a little yellow to it whereas the 5k does not.

Steve do you also have HID kits for the high beams? I think I remember seeing a thread here about high beams, and to be honest, I don't use my high beams very often as it is. How much more bluish/purplish look do you get out of the 6000K from the 5000K and how much more light output do you get from the 5000K?

Thanks,
Josh
Josh - if you haven't already purchased, I'd recommend the 6000k kit with the Philips components. I put the same on my 2005 last year and they have worked flawlessly. I never compared the 4300k to the 6000k kits so I can't opine as to actual lumens output between the two but I can tell you there is a very noticeable improvement in output over the stock halogen bulbs. Plus, that nice white light just looks great and I've not had any problems (knock on wood) with the law as the beams seem to cutoff low enough to not cause mass blinding of traffic in front of you (this is a benefit of the projector housing I think). But, these light kits are not legal or DOT approved for highway use.

Anyway, even though Steve says that he has had good luck with the Xtreme kits (which I don't doubt), I'd still pony up the extra $200 for something made with all Philips components because they are an OEM supplier of HID lighting for the factory. With the Xtreme line, I'm not sure what you are getting. I think your $50k truck is worth it.

llcc1975~ Thank you for the hands on experience and reply. I do appreciate how you always seem to have an answer to my questions. Everyone here at ClubLexus is great and helpful, but I believe you have been the most help to me; so thank you. I hope to return the favor someday.

I do plan on getting the 6000K kit now, and I look forward to seeing much more clearly at night, especially in the rain. Although, I've heard that all lights are lousy in rain, I'm sure the HID's are much better than stock. Now I just need to find a nice "white" bulb for my highs and fogs. I don't think I will need to go with xenons since I rarely use them as it is.

Josh - I really appreciate your compliment. I'm glad that I was able to help out a little. I think you'll be really happy with that 6000k kit. It really improves the look of your truck with the lights on and certainly improves your night vision. I did an overnight 750 mile roadtrip from PHX to SLC (drove through the night) about a week after I installed my kits and I have to tell you I was so glad to have these lights when going through the mountain roads between AZ and UT. I felt a lot safer in being able to have a much fuller and whiter field of view. Some of the deer I encountered (no collisions thankfully) were glad too I'm sure.

As for being in the rain, since I live in PHX, we don't get much rain around here, but the last time I drove in the rain, I don't recall the HIDs being that much better than stock because the whiter color temperature of the HIDs tend not to reflect as well as a yellower color temperature.

I agree with you on the fogs or brights. I did not spend the money on HIDs for those lights because I don't use those lights that often and it didn't make economic sense to me. I did purchase 9005 Sylvania Silverstars for the hi-beams to close the gap on the beam colors. They only cost $38/pair and improved the output of the high's a smidge. Still look too yellow compared to the HIDs but you can't expect that much out of something that costs less than 10% of the HID kit.

Enjoy the new lights!

With this kit, you do lose the HIGH beam capability correct?

Hello,

If your vehicle uses a 9004, H13, or 9007 bulb you will lose your high beam functionality.

The GX however uses 2 separate bulbs for the high and low beam meaning that installing this product will not effect your high beam at all.

Hi Steve,

1. I want to upgrade the lighting on my wifes Maxima. It uses the 9004 size bulbs. Is it a good idea to upgrade to an HID system (the extreme line that you carry in the 5000K temp), or do you think it's not worth it because of the design of the headlight reflector which will result in too much glare for oncoming traffic?

2. In my 99 GS400, the bulbs are HID-D2R . Do you just carry the 5000K bulbs so that I can swap out the 6000K bulbs in there? I have had the 6000K Philips bulbs in there for about 4 years now and I am finally not liking the purple color of them and want to go down in temp to something like the 5000K bulbs. Do you sell the bulbs on their own? If yes, how much are they?

Thanks!
