Default Xenondepot 5000K kit?

Does anyone have familiarity with the new Xenondepot 5000K kit? Would this colour temperature be the one of choice (as opposed to the 4000K).

Additionally, with such a low price, are the components still Philips/high quality? Does the GX have a headlight 'burnt out' indicator on the dash to illuminate with the reduced draw of the HIDs?

thanks!

I dont see a 5000 kit on the XD site, can you post a link, and how much it is? 5000K is just about perfect as far as color and light output balance.

Here is a post from Xenon Depot from another forum:

The reason for the price difference between the 2 kits is that the XenonDepot kit uses German made Philips bulbs and ballasts.

The Xtreme kit uses Asian components.

Quality wise they are both great!

Initially, the Xtreme kits were only available in the higher colour temperatures whereas the XenonDepot line was available in the lower colour temperatures.

When it comes to colour temperature, the higher you go in terms of colour temperature the more colour you get however the less actual useable light you obtain.

However, we just launched 2 new Xtreme lines - 4000k and 5000k:

http://www.xenondepot.com/category.php?category_id=4

Now you can get the Xtreme kits in the lower colour temperature.

At the $224.99 price you really cannot go wrong with these kits. We have been selling the Xtreme line for approx 4 years now with very postive results.

Yup! Thats my post.

Bottome line... We have had such good success with the Xtreme kits that we have decided to add 2 more lines (4000k and 5000k).

I too have been looking at going with the XD HID kit. I've considered the 4300K, 6000K, and now I'm considering the 5000K kits. Obviously the 6000K kit will have the least amount of light output than the other two kits, but it will also have the bluish/purplish look.

For those who have already installed their kits; if you could do it over again, which kit would you buy and why? If I did go with the 6000K kit, would this still give me about 3 times the amount of light output as my OEM lights now?

Thanks,
Josh

Josh,
I have the 4300K on my truck and the 6000K on the wife's GX. If I could spend the extra money, I would buy the 6000K bulbs for my truck! The amount of noticable light is negligible (to me at least). The 6000K are a little "bluer" than the 4300K, but it stands out more and looks better IMO. Installation was a breeze once the shrouds and stuff are out of the way.
Good luck.

I have the 6000k XD kit on my car and love it! Very easy to install and if you take you time it will lokk very OEM. I would be curious to see the 5000k kit, but since I work for Philips I would be hard pressed to buy anything else.

Thanks for the replies. I will try to talk my wife into allowing me to go with the 6000K kit over the 5000K kit. I saw the thread that shows how to do it with photos, so I think that will help a lot.

Is there any potential to break anything while taking some parts off? Also, for those of you who do have the HID kit, do you have anything to keep the headlight clean, like the wiper fluid? I heard it's the law to have some way to keep the headlights clean if you have xenon's, so I am curious if anyone has been pulled over and ticketed for the equipment. I don't think it's a big deal, and I doubt an officer would notice, but I just wanted some clarification on it.

Thanks again,
Josh

There is no law in the U.S. that requires a headlight washer system if you have HID, but there is a law for after market HID kits. They are for show purpose only, disclaimer is on the site, they are not street legal. Like you said, it's no big deal, and I doubt an officer would notice it.

this will look like a factory option as your vehicle has OEM projectors and you're driving a Lexus... I was/still am actually surprised that there is no OEM HID option.

Bought two kits from Steve for my GX. Both low beam and foglight are 6000k xenondepot and they look great and bright at night!
Steve, I also added a new GS350 in the family, planning to go with Foglight HID also, what should I go with? 4000k or 5000k Xtereme kit? The GS also has the similar projector headlamp with the GX. so... with the stock HID, which kit should I go with?

Hi David,

That looks great!

I would go with the 5000k kit to match OEM HID.

So since the 5000K kit is not Phillips and the 6000K kit is, would the 6000K kit be more reliable or a better product to go with? I didn't even think about the fog lights or the high beams.

Steve do you also have HID kits for the high beams? I think I remember seeing a thread here about high beams, and to be honest, I don't use my high beams very often as it is. How much more bluish/purplish look do you get out of the 6000K from the 5000K and how much more light output do you get from the 5000K?

Thanks,
Josh
