Based on the trip computer (which I think is a little optimistic):
Highway: 19+
City: 15-16
Combined: Somewhere in-between.

8k miles on the truck, tires at ~35psi. Mileage better with pressure up near 40psi, but it gets a bit rough.

I've been keeping track both with measurements and the trip computer. With about 4k miles on my '06 in mixed driving, all 93 octane premium fuel, we have averaged 15.3 mpg so far by measurements and 17.0 mpg by the trip computer. We take it very easy on the throttle.

The measurement values were about 17 mpg for two mostly-highway trips and about 17.8 mpg for the trip computer on those trips.

Tire psi set to 32 I believe, but I am probably due to check them again. I may up it to 35 given the gas prices lately and sacrifice ride a bit.

I take alot of short trips, 2 to 3 miles, in the city. The computer saids 15 mpg, my math tells me 14.

Interesting, I get 15 mpg figured by hand using premium around town on my 2004 LX470. I would think that the GX would hit about 18 around town on regular like my 2004 V8 4runner got?

The GX is heavier than the 4runner and I use premium on the GX as well, which really doesnt do much for mileage. I think the short trips is whats killing my mileage. The start and the stop of the engine and the warm up time, plus the traffic is a lot worst here in Boston than in Missouri.

Im an oldie, got a 2003 GX, only 48K though... but the short trips IS WHAT KILLS your mileage... I do alot of highway miles, and it lingers around 18.4 to 19. When I do alot of local street trips, it gets down to 17 miles. And my gas gauge moves down pretty quickly from all the stops and gos.(goes?) hmmm....

I know this has been asked a million times and I did do a search on the forum. The 2005-2007 (w/ VVT Engine) manual states to use 87 octane with a recommendation for 91+ for "optimal performance." What have you guys with the newer GX's experienced in 87 vs 91?

No noticable diff. in MPG and very little gain in power.

I do quite a bit of mixed highway and city driving, leaning towards the highway driving in my 2006 with about 8000 miles. My on board computer is religiously 1.5mpg on the optimistic side from what my measurements are. I have been measuring around 17-18 mpg lately with the nicer weather; during the winter, I would measure around 16-17 mpg. I have only used premium which tends to either be 92 or 93 octane. I try to drive somewhat conservative, but sometimes, I like to drive a little sportier. The computer also tells me my average speed is usually around 27-30 mph.

I get about 14 mpg towing a 4,000 lb. trailer on the highway. Without the trailer, I can get about 18-20 mpg (depending on speed). The display is too optimistic. It says I get about 2 mpg higher than what I actually get.

I have a 2006 model and use regular (87 octane) gas. I get 18.7 mpg on the highway & 15.3 mpg around town, according to the dash display. I also notice that the "sweet spot" as far as mpg is concerned is between 45-65 mph. I can get over 20 mpg in that range, but it drops off noticeably above 65 mph. I just hit 12,500 miles on the odometer, and the mpg has been consistent since day 1.

I've measured fuel consumption on > 10 tanks of fuel. The in-dash computer is significantly optimistic, so don't rely on that.

I have a not-yet-broken-in '07 GX with 2200 miles, and the dash computer shows 16.0 mpg average highway and in-town with the air conditioning on, which is exactly the figure I calculated after going through a tankful of gas and refilling it. So, at least on mine, the computer is accurate.
