Ace and NexVision, what year GX do you have? I asked my dealer service guy and he claimed that since mine is an '03 they wouldn't be able to do it, gave me a mumbo jumbo excuse that sounded fishy to me.

Mine is a 04 my dealer told me he didnt think it could be done and then began looking for it the shop forman said it cant be done as well. However my Service writer Bill Powers best one Palm Beach searched online in the manual couldnt find it he then called the foreman back and said he saw it online (I brought him to this thread) so the forman said well if the car is here bring it back here and I will hook up my toy. Came back out with the truck 15 minutes later and said your all set.

Gator,
Mine is an 07. I think once they know how to do it, then it's an easy to do.
Good luck.

Although I do believe that they make the GX more visible on the road to other drivers, I would like to be able to switch them on or off at will. Lexus charges about $10 per replacement bulb.! Given that, I bought aftermarket bulbs trying to match the same color (part # 1156NA). They're about $2 ea. Some came close to color but not exact. My resolve was to replace both with a slightly lighter amber color so they at least match.

If they are $2 each, why not just replace both of them.

I think someone here have replaced them with LEDs, which should last the life of the car.

I tried both Amber 5 LED Cluster and 1 Watt Luxeon LED and neither were even half as bright as the OEM DRL. To make matters worse because of the voltage difference the LEDs caused the blinker to go faster.

You need a resister there to make up for the wattage difference.

I was behind a Land Rover last night that had what looked like LED tail and brake lights. They were pretty bright (looked like a large LED cluster for each light but I was too far back to count them).

I think the Land Rover uses a Luxeon LED cluster. The Land Rovers always have some of the nicest lights on the market, too bad they are so unrelieable.

The DRL bulbs I just replaced are too light a yellow (pale) for me. I'm having trouble finding aftermarket darker opaque amber bulbs (type 1156NA) that are similar in color to the GX stock bulbs. AID Auto Store had them a while back (Sylvania I think) but I cannot find them there or online anymore. Oh well, I might have to buy from dealer ($8.95 each + tax). Anyone know where I can find them?

Tx!
