hey guys, look at it this way... its just a way the 08 owners can differentiate themselves amongst us... so let us all be kind and give that to them... since they love our GXs so much like we do they couldn't wait for the redesigned 09. But comes 09s... everybody gets a clean slate.

This was moved/added in 07 when the GX finally went to the Gen5 Nav (albeit with the CD changer still in the glovebox!). I'm glad that they moved the diff lock switch as the old one is just too easy to hit by mistake and doesn't even have a dashboard light warning you it is on.

I am looking forward to 09, when I hope they redesign from the ground up instead of trying to adapt changes with tooling costs as cheap as possible. I have an RX also - it is nothing like a GX in stature, but it is a high volume production vehicle and the inside cabin and hatch area actually seem like somebody planned it out ahead of time.

I'm about to part with my 05 RX and just ordered a black '08, but I haven't actually seen an '08 in person yet. In fact, these are the only decent pics I can find of the changes; Lexus' site is worthless...I keep hearing about a change to the front grill, but can't notice any difference in any of the pics I've seen...Anyone know what this change is to the front grill?

I also remembered reading something like that in a press announcement but I couldn't see any difference in the front end when I was looking at them side by side. I probably should have taken a pic but I didn't bother because I didn't see any change. BTW, I noticed that when I picked mine up from service yesterday the black '08 parked out front was already gone - I guess someone snatched it up already.

The grill is suppose to have drarker chrome, it might be so slight that one would not notice it unless to view a 07 and 08 side by side. According to Lexus " new dark metallic finish on the front grille "

I snapped some pics of a white '08 on my way home yesterday, in the first pic the '08's on the left, the one on the right is an '07 - I couldn't tell any difference in the front end other than the gold "L"

I was the dealer last weekend and decided to snap a few pictures of the 08GX details. First, here is the grill. The funny thing is, I took the grill because it looked different, and then when I got home I had trouble spotting the difference. It looks like I am not the only one playing Where's Waldo with the grill

Next, I took a look at the roof rack. It wasn't as bad as I thought originally - it is mostly color matched to the vehicle except for the bars. I still think it was done to reduce costs and cheapens the vehicle a bit, but not really a disaster.

love that new chrome line on the back door between the sheet metal and the glass... does anyone know if we can get this as an add on accessory for our GXs? It gives a wider look on the back.

I am glad I am not the only one who likes that chrome strip I think it makes the GX look shorter from the back. The next time I go in for service, I will try to get a price.
