Default 2005 GX470 - extended warranty

Platinum - 6 years - 100,000 miles - $0 deductable - $2,000 through my local Lexus dealer

My truck has 48,000 miles and I drive about 16,000 miles per year. My dealer is good about getting me service right away and always has loaners available.

Decent deal?

I've had the truck 2 1/2 years so I think this is my best option.

Thanks, DB

I just received a quote from Troy for the same coverage for $2050. I am not sure how he offered the same for $1600. Is there any coupon code or something to mention to get that price?.

Hummm, that $1600 figure was a few years ago and my GX was brand new.

Because they are very expensive to repair and even though it is a Lexus, they still break down once a while.

Whats going to break you can always haggle with them on price or go elsewhere. They make lots of money on extended warranties. Lots of times if something goes wrong then they say "well the warranty doesn't cover that"! Instead of buying a extended warranty you may be better off selling the one you have and buying a new one.

Extended warranty is for people who want to keep their car for a long time. Selling your car due to a $2000 repair just doesn’t make sense if your car is in good condition. You can haggle with them on the price of the labor, but the Lexus parts are expensive to buy. You should know exactly what the extended warranty covers and make your decision based on that. Extended warranty is not for everyone, heck, some people dont even have health insurance.
