average gas mileage for gx?
i was currently own 91 LS400 and 01 IS300 and trying to get another Lexus(SUV). So i just wondering what's the average gas mileage on GX470. Because i'm thinking about to get a used RX330 or GX470. The gas mileage difference between my LS and IS is around 2 miles per gallon(mixed city/highway).Hope it can give me some info to choose which vehicle is better for me.(Or someone own both can give me some idea).
Thanks

My 03 running 87 octane averages 14-15mpg around town and 18-19mpg on road trips (avg 70mph on the highway)
mpg based on my own excel calculated spreadsheet. The trip computer has been optimistic showing up to 22+ mpg on the highway.
I run 87 because it's the older 4.7 with "only" 235bhp (and no VVTI??)

My 04 GX is pretty consistent in getting 16 back & forth to work, and 20 to 22 on a road trip driving 65 to 70. I'm pretty easy on the gas pedal - more spirited driving would be less mpg. I find mileage drops off over 70 mph.
My 02 RX gets about 18 in town, and 23 to 24 on the road. Not that much difference between the 6 vs. 8 cylinder, considering the size and weight difference.

Well I guess I'm one of the few that doesn't get that good of gas mileage. I have an 06 GX with 13000 miles on it and I'm only getting around 14 both highway and around town. I try to keep my RPM's below 2000 since I was told that going over that would cause the truck to drink the gas. Now of course not all the time is this possible but for the most part I try. I can't believe that my Escalade got better gas mileage then the GX but I love the truck. Is there anything that I can do to get better mileage? This is done by the computer on the dash so I'm guess it's worse if I do it by the tank.

Most reviews on the bigger V-8 GX say you won't see 20mpg highway and I agree with that. I can only get 19 at best. But in town mpg is better than other V-8 SUVs I've owned. I get 16.8 mpg overall.
My wifes's RX does about same in town and better than 20 on highway.
there are a lot of differences in driver sitting position and ride and handling between the GX and RX, but those would be evident in a test drive of each vehilce

My GX gets 15.5 to 16.5 with mixed in town and freeway driving. Mostly freeway drives gets 20 to 21 at 65-70 MPH. This is hand calculated mileage as the trip computer is a little too optimistic.

2006 GX , 93 octane (although that probably makes no difference), 16,000 miles. On the cross-country trip (NYC to CO) - 1 fillup (approx 21 gallons topped off) would get me approx 350 miles MAX. That's cruising at 80-90 mph. I get the same mileage in the city. Needless to say I have a lead foot (specially fitted ). Keeping the RPMs low will yield a little better mileage, but I think 20MPG or better is HIGHLY optimistic in regular driving, at least here in NYC.

I average about 16 usually.
Snice you mentioned the 330 have you considered the 400h? I just checked autotrader and it looks like the prices have come down quite a bit (except at the Lexus dealers of course ). For example I see an '06 AWD w/ 20K miles for $35,999 at CarMax, which is not much more then some of the used GX's. Seems like a great deal to me for someone who needs a luxury SUV w/ good mpg (I see the CL members are averaging about 26 mpg with their 400h's).
