The GX has a incredibly capable 4WD system.
If you have M&S tires (check the sidewall) you're fine.
I took a GX out around Iceland in snow and ice and had no issues with A/S tires

You are right with center diff lock on the VSC is off but the ABS still works. I tried them to be sure. Not true of my old Landcruiser![Cool](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif)
I would still get snow tires even though all season tires will serve you well. Snows will turn and stop better than all season tires. Al least if you plan on doing a lot of snow driving. If it's 1-2 times a year than it is not worth it.

Im off to Tahoe Friday in the early AMs... I did some asking around, and everyone seems to have gotten around fine on 4wd in deep snow. A friend told me he rented an AWD van in Nevada and went to Reno and was driving in snow that was 5 feet deep with no probs... Some other people mentioned going up to the snow with no issues on the GX. And yes, my tires do have M+S on them. I will drive very carefully once Im up there.. thanks to everyone!
Stuff likes this makes me proud of the GX...

Returned last night from Tahoe. Let me say one thing... the GX kix butt out there!! I bought chains but never had to use them. And yes, there were huge snow storms coming back, but the GX handled flawlessly.
I never turned on any of the offroad options, just drove it as it is.
The only thing that sucked is they closed the I-395 in Bridgeport on the way back, had to go back and around in Nevada for an extra 250+ miles to get to Bishop. This baby ran straight for 12 hours! My 60K service is coming up, and believe me, I will invest in it.

Sir,
living in Montreal and traveling extensively in Quebec and New England nearly every week/weekend during winter, I have tried many different brands of snow tires.
The ones I like best on a full-time 4WD vehicle are Toyo Open Country G02+
These are above-average quality winter tires that deliver a quality ride and they are relatively quiet.
They have very good grip in snow and awesome grip on ice.
Bit more expensive than Bridgestone or Michelin here, but worth every extra penny.
