Rear Door Won't Stay Open
Is there any way to adjust the rear door so that it will stand open. The slightest breeze will blow it shut and it can hit you in the back if you are loading groceries or anything into the back of the GX?

Our old Land Rover had the same door set-up, but didn't need a lock... wonder what they did different (or maybe it was because the door was much heavier, due to the spare hanging on it)...

That is one of my peeves - it is easy to lock the mechanism (just push it), but unlocking is dangerous. You have to pull just so on sharp metal parts, then hope the wind doesn't pick up at the wrong moment to crush your fingers while the door hits you.
That whole door needs a redesign - never mind that it is not a liftgate - it is poorly designed for what it is.

The locking mechanism on my GX works fine. Maybe yours needs some lube applied to it? I release the mechanism by placing my right hand on the door. This prevents the door from trying to close on your hand and then with my left hand, release the locking part, and then I close the door with my right hand. Simple enough.
Silverlady, maybe it's time to go back to a Ford?

The parts are #9 and 10 in this drawing.

The rail (#10) has a notch in it that the door check (#9) can fit into and hold the cargo door open against an angle or the wind.
It's common for people to replace them with a gas strut, which has a couple of ball joints the strut pops onto.
