the leather on my shift **** wore out crazy.( it fade into a differ color now) does that happen to anyone? wonder if warranty will cover it?

 

Probably not... they'll say it you wore it out by resting your hand on it, or you have very acidic sweat... OTOH, they might, just to keep you happy, as its a relatively low buck, easy fix... Worth a shot asking next time you are in for service... Be sure to point out to them that you "expect better from a $50K vehicle" if they balk...

 

How many miles on your GX470? Do you grab the shift **** often while you drive, even if not shifting? Do you park where your shift **** is exposed under the sun a lot?

Just throwing out possibilities that may cause accelerated wear on the leather

btw, my 2003 with 58k miles doesn't show wear on the shift ****.

 

i dont rest my hand on it when i drive. and i only have 21k mile on it. i think it wore out a little too faast.

 

wow, that does sounds like premature wear

 

The cut of leather might have been bad. I have a '05 with 45K miles and the **** still looks like new. Lexus should make good on it.

 

pick up a first gen is300 shift ****. it's a classy chrome ball and it won't wear out.

 

plenty of leather ***** on ebay!

 

Personnally, I like the all wood shift ****.
