Default Finally! - Spoiler On!

After almost a year I went and got the spoiler. It was a PIA to do by myself as I wasn't in any hurry to drill holes into my baby. I can say that taking my time and ensuring I did it right made the outcome perfect. I don't think I could have done it any better.

If I were to do this again, I would create my own template by taping masking tape on the car. Then put the spoiler up to mark the area, from there I'd use the gasket that came with the spoiler to mark my holes. After that I would measure and remeasure.

Unfortunately, I forgot to take the before pics as I was anxious to get it on but here are the after pics.

kphu,

nice work. I remember doing this mod in April of 2003 a week after I bought the GX. I too was hesitant to drill into fresh Lexus paint. 5 years l8r and no issues withe the install. BEWRE the modding never stops

honestly I have to say that the instructions they provide sucked. So as I was doing it I created my own way of doing it which turned out to be much better as I have 2 screws on each side holding the spoiler in place as oppose to their confusing directions.

I'm sure I'll find something to mod next.

no, I put the anti-rust compound on and filled it with silicon.

yeah, the rims will take some time as I have to figure out a way to convince the wife. Tinting the two front windows will be my next small mod. Then the reverse back camera and after that will be a DVD entertainment for the kids.

Looks like you did an excellent job. I agree the instructions should have been a lot better. I always enjoy working on my own vehicles and seeing the progression from when I first get them until their finished mode.

I'm really surprised with how close the spoiler matches the factory paint. That was one of my worries.

nice install! Bet you're looking back at your new "spoiled" GX every time after you park

hahaha - yeah!!! It's like the first time I bought the truck. You get out and stare at it before you leave. Then you stare at it before you get into it.

I forgot to mention that when I did the install I took the rear brake light cover out. It didn't occur to me that I needed a gasket to put it back on so I did what the next best thing and you guys might laugh but I improvised with some white silicon caulking.

Since the car is white I honestly can say I think it might be better then the gasket with the exception of if I ever wanted to take the brake cover off, it will probably be a nightmare. I did disconnect the original rear lights so really there is no need to taking it out anymore.

Here's a pic of caulking.
