Anyone else having an issue with bubbling or peeling wheels!

Yes, a very strange-looking ocurrance -- corrosion and bubbling paint on an alloy wheel. I'm not sure it's really 'fixable' with just the usual sanding/sandblasting and repainting. It looks like there would be pits remaining unless the voids were then filled with something like body putty. Strange.

Yep, all of mine are bubbling. The other day when I was washing the truck, a good size piece of the finish on one flaked off on my wash mitt.
I'm not even going to bother trying to have them refinished. I see factory FJ Cruiser alloys on e-bay all the time for 300 bucks - that's the route I'm going after seeing them on someone's GX here. I like them much better than our factory wheels anyway.

2004 GX wheels are peeling and corroding
Hello..
I also have the peeling paint and corrosion on my 2004 gx wheels ..
I am still within the warranty .
The dealer is willing to have them refurbished ( they say stripped and painted)
by Wheels of America.
Has anybody had their wheels repainted by the dealer ? How were the results ? Were they as good as the factory finish ?
Thanks for your help.. I need to let the dealer know if I will go this route soon.

I was just out shopping for a used GX and every one I looked (4 or 5) at had some degree of problem with the wheels. It must be a defect in the finish. Those still under warranty should be covered by Lexus.

I had similar issues with my wifes IS250(2006). I know they are different models obviously but it seems somewhat common to recent lexus's. Anyway, the dealer replaced all 4 with no questions asked. I have had 3 4runners in the last 9 years with not a single issue with the rims.
Good luck!

I showed mine to my dealer and all 4 were replaced with new wheels (and I got a car wash, a free sandwich and a cookie). They even said that the air valves were kind of worn so they replaced those too. All under warranty.
