I own an LX470, the major problem with the truck has been the AHC. Lexus will not stand behind the current repair which is accumulators. We were going to add a GX as a second car. Has anyone experienced problems with the Height control system? I really do not feel like re-living the bad experiences.

OP, I have no complaint with the power of the '03 motor either. It gets a little bit sluggish at speeds of 65 MPH or more compared to speeds of 50 or lower, but I have no real complaints. At around-town speeds, it's plenty powerful for the type of vehicle it is. In fact, I don't think I'd actually use more power even if it had more (and I love to use power in the right circumstance -- I keep my Supra set to 750+ whp all the time). An SUV just isn't the type of vehicle to need significantly more power than the GX has, IMO.

One other related note... Fuel mileage starts dropping very significantly as you go above 55-60 MPH. This isn't at all surprising when you consider the effect of aerodynamics and how much more power is required to overcome the exponential increase in drag as speed increases, but it's something that really plays out pretty dramatically on the GX.

My neighbor has nothing but complaints regarding his X5. He's had 3 transmissions replaced under warranty. We will have had our GX 4 years (purchased new) come this November, with no problems to report to date. The GX has excellent power and torque in my opinion but, like all SUVs in its class, gas mileage is not a plus. However, because on that drawback (low gas mileage), now may be a good time to buy if you're shopping for one.
