GX 470 Sunroof Problems?
New to this forum! 2006 GX 470, purchased CPO with 26K miles in March 2008.....my sunroof just made a horrific clicking noise upon opening last night, and the one-touch opening isn't working, I have to physically hold the button down in order for it to open all the way. Anyone ever experience any sunroof issues? Is under warranty....just curious.

This is a problem with some GX's - It had happened to my '05. Take it to the dealer as they are aware of the problem. They need to replace the tracks and some other stuff...sorry, I can't remember what exactly needs to be fixed, but they will take care of it for you.

I have a 2004 and have had trouble with my moon-roof twice.
The first time I was on vacation in Colorado my moon-roof was already open and I accidently hit the button to open instead of close. So it kind of grinded for a second. Then it seemed like it was stuck in the open mode making grinding noises. Finally I got it to close, but it seemed to me like it was slightly "off its track" or something? I was scared I might have to drive 800 miles home with an open moon-roof.
I took it to the dealer and they fixed it. Can't remember what they said. Then it happened again about a year later and the dealer replaced the motor or motors. It's been fine ever since. To be honest though I dont trust it 100% and don't open it when I am on vacation.

Alright this just happened to me as well. '05 GX. The sunroof can open, but when closing it STRUGGLES, then tries to open again (since it knows it's injured). My warranty just ran out. Am I SOL on this one? It's closed now and I am afraid to open it for fear of damaging it that much more.

I just posted this in the other sunroof question on the forum; we just had this problem fixed. Our sunroof was stuck open and the I truly hope you guys have a warranty because the symptoms are the cable for the regulator are getting bound up and the motor will eventually stop working.
Solution: Dealer special ordered parts and charged the warranty just shy of $1300; oh and you will have some dirty hand prints on your headliner to clean

Greasy paw prints from the mechanics that did the repair? That is unacceptable. I would have taken it back and made them remove the marks.

This is happening to me now on my 05 which as you guess is way out of warranty. I'm afraid to open it now for fear it won't close.
Does anyone know if there was ever a recall issue on this problem. Apparently it's a well known issue.
Thanks,
