I am thinking of putting 20in wheels on my white 04 GX (currently has stock silver 17in ones) -- either chrome, black or combo of both.

Does anyone have experience with Liquidmetal or MB wheels from Discount Tire Direct? I ordered tires from them in the past and it was a breeze, shipped right away & I had my local guy mount & balance them. Wondering if their lower priced rims are decent quality, I was not trying to pay Giovanna prices but still get a quality product.

I was either gonna have them mount & balance the tires on the wheels & ship complete, or just get the tires locally and have a place here mount & balance (will CostCo mount tires on bare wheels? I need to ask them).

If you know what rims and the exact sizes and offsets on them, get a couple quotes around from rim shops and then base price it with Discount tires. They offer great prices for tires but with rims, they a little bit pricey. I bought a set from them before and they gave me about almost $200 off of where i was gonna get them from. But one thing i didnt like with Discount Tires is that, they not careful with mounting the rims onto the tires. So for the longest time i had a fit with them with my scratched rim. When you call Discount to get a price for your rims, round your price down and give it to Discount. Like if its $2680, tell Discount that you can get it for $2500-$2600. Then they will give you better prices. But why dont you go with 24s on the GX? I'm looking for some 24x10 for mine. I think i'm going with the KLASS KF400. Good luck...

I was thinking about 24s, but I keep reading that the ride is a lot more comfortable with 22s or even 20s

Plus with 24s I am limited with the tires, if I go with 295/35-24, I think only Kumho, Yokohama, Avon and a few others make that size....I can't put Mich Cross Terrains on there. Other issue is cost, tires will run $300-400 each and the rims go for $400++

Your right when it comes to limitations to tires. but if your going to pay for something nice might as well go with some pirelli p zero's for your tires. but thats my opinon on wheels. if i'm gonna go, might as well go for something you like and feel more comfortable with. 295/35/24 is good, i would go that way as well. but good luck, keep me posted with your rims and pictures. i want to get some 24s to, but not now since winter is coming and no point to have rims in the snow. haha.

Yeah, but I am thinking that around DC here we get a bit of snow but not much (maybe 2 storms of 6 inches each), so I wonder if I go with 20" rims and a good all season tire if I can just leave it on all year long. I think that with 22s or 24s I would need to switch back to the 17s.

Oh, and I see that some people love the P Zero tires and others don't. I really like the Michelin Cross Terrains, but the largest size they have is 18in. I wonder what tire is comparable in the 20 in size.
