Replacement GX ?
Well the price of gas is $ 4.00 + a gallon, and over $ 1.50 per liter for prem. in Canada. Lexus is looking at replacing the GX Platform. Well I came across some pics, I think that this will be based on the GS Platform. And what I understand they will have a 3.5 Liter and a 3.5 Liter Hybrid. Suspect they will be know as the JX350 and the JX450. Looks nice. Does anyone know anything more on this ? Timing ?

Not a GX replacement, could be the tiny little SUV Lexus is thinking of so say the rumors. Keep in mind that whatever the 4Runner ends up so will the GX most likely. The GX is intended to be a true 4x4 so I doubt they will place it on a car platform. They already have the RX for that.

This could be the RAV4 based Lexus SUV. This could be called the IX 350. I believe the JX is supposed to be the prototype HPX/LF-X...

It looks to small to be a replacement for the GX IMO. Maybe it's the new RX or as someone else said a new "entry level" sized IX350. Looks pretty good though and I bet it will sell like hotcakes if they have a hybrid version.

4Runner is getting a redesign in another year, model year 2010 we should see something new with probably the same 4.6 that the Tundra is getting, the 4.7 is being replaced with a 4.6 that has 30 more horsepower and about 2mpg better
The 4.6 will be the new base V8 engine in the Tundra the 5.7 is still the top, and is unchanged, should be interesting to see how new cafe standards effect the engine options, I would guess a V6 GX could be around the corner as well as a hybrid eventually.
stay tuned to the Chicago auto show, whatever happens to the 4Runner will be shared with the GX unless Lexus decides to make a drastic change but I doubt that with the LX now being a 70k vehicle, hopefully the GX will be much improved.

It looks like it might be the smaller crossover to compete with the X3? I am cusrious to see what Lexus choses to do coming up. With a new Gx/4runner in 2010, a 7 passenger JX, and then a smaller SUV(one above maybe), it will be interesting.
My wife drives the IS250awd and I have the 06 4runner. IF the rumour is true that the 2010 4runner will be revealed at the chicago/NY auto show this winter, any idea if it will be available before the fall of '09? My lease is up this fall and I might just extend it to get the 2010.

There will be a new 4runner in 2-3 years...if so, then there will likely be a new GX...since they share the same platform, the production costs will be small, which leads me to think that Lexus has no reason to stop making GX. Like what Edge said, there is too much of a gap between RX and LX...GX is the middle man.

2-3 years for a new 4runner is incorrect. Read this post:

Should be out next fall for sure if not earlier if they are releasing info on it this winter at the auto shows.

Good point also
My lease is up soon, just looking for a glimour of hope I guess!
But the 4runner body style went from 96-2002 (7 years) and the current one from 2003-2010 which would be the same time frame, so one is due soon.
If not I rest my case

Hadn't seen that they are dropping the FJ before - it was cute but the victim of bad timing, I guess.
