Yall do realize Lexus IS NOT perfect and some vehicles will have more problems than others, including the occasional lemon.

There seems to be a growth on the top of it. I have one also, but it's growing from the garage ceiling.

No problems with my GX after 3 yrs and 38k to include any issues with the paint. The only issue with the paint I had was when i bought it there was acid rain deposits on the hood and roof from sitting on the lot for a while, but the dealer buffed them off, I have waxed it routinely and I not problems since. Awesome truck and IMO Lexus paint jobs rank as some of the best out there.

I know foresight is never as good as hindsight, but as a buyer of a "$50k" vehicle one would think that you would inspect it from top to bottom to include testing out all of the features - e.g. the CD player, inspect for physical defects etc. I spent over 3 hrs with my truck before I made the plunge, which included driving, inside/out visual inspections etc... Certainly was time well spent!

I have owned several black cars in the past and all of them required tedious amounts of work to maintain its beauty. I have a black GX as well. It seems to get dirty as soon as I drive it out of my garage. Black really shows the water spots and dust. White and silver tend to hide the spots and dirt better.

I am sorry that you had sucha terrible experience with your new purchase. I totally understand how frustrating it can be to spend hard earned money on a a luxury vehicle. Lexus has made a name for itself in the luxury market segment. They will stand behind their product. Try going to another dealership or get in touch with the general manager. I am sure they will do something for you.

The service writers at Lexus are very good at appeasing customers. I have had several bad experiences at Mercedes, which caused me to turn to Lexus. My wife says she will never purchase another Mercedes due to their lack of customer service.

Good Luck with your paint issues. Hopefully, Lexus will make this right by repairing or giving you a new vehicle.

Default I am partially with the guy that had the problem

MY GX470 has peeling clearcoat. They keep telling me it is paint chips. that is a horrible excuse. When I bought it from them. It had a huge spot on the door that was missing all the clearcoat. They fixed it. Hmmm, they dont rememember telling me that the clearcoat just did not adhere properly.

And now that the bumper is peeling after a couple months owning it. they
now say it is paint chips and it is not covered. And all around the grill. And I do mean literally around the edges of the grill. About 3 months into owning
it. little blisters were appearing and poping like little pimples and then showing small rust. They had the nerve to tell me that it was paint chips there too. Are you kidding me. If there are 15 little paint chips clustered right around the edge of the grill. No where further away from it, not paint chips on the bumper areas.. Maybe a couple "actual paint chips on the hood area. (Which I know what a paint chip is). No way could the rocks have brains and say. Lets all attack just this one spot. I had one salesman slip and tell me that some of the gx470's were defective. And then others telling me lies. I am getting ready to take it to a paint specialist and fight this.

Unlike the other guy that bought it with a couple thousand miles on it. I bought it used with 37k miles. And 3 years old. So if they told me they would repaint it (and do it right) I feel that is acceptable. But for anyone to tell that other poor guy that just painting a brand new vehical and calling it a day is an acceptable solution. that is wrong. He did not buy a honda or a yugo. The guy invested 50k into a glorified Toyota. So they better live up to that name through thick and thin. They should work with him. Do I think he should just get a new vehical. No, but should they not only do a perfection job on fixing it. They should have it noted that if there are anymore defects, they will fix every one of them as time goes on. And compensate him a little bit, give him free oil changes for a year, something. You cant sell luxury vehicals and give the same dumb excuses you get at your lower end car dealerships.

Well, based on my experience with 08 GX I would agree with gxdude on everything by 1 (which is vehicle specific). Get me right, I am kind of person who get car washed only if it free with a oil change. But paint on GX is extremely poor quality (there are a lot of scratches on my car). And water does leave hard spots on the front windshield. DVD seems randomly to decide when display or not to display titles.

I would add that plastic in the cargo area, is way too soft (there are so many scratches right now, that I am even scared to think what will be in another 5 years or so).

But the way I am thinking, GX is a 4x4 truck, and I bought it for 4X4 capabilities and KDSS, not paint, plastic, etc.

PS: if you are thinking that you should have bought GL, than you did buy a wrong car. I don't see a reson to own GL (or any other SUV) unless you need 4x4 or towing.
