i ran a few searches but unsure which is the cause.

i took a 800 mile trip on different highways this weekend and noticed that around 70-80 i would get this vibration off and on. it was bad that i could feel it on the gas pedal. i recently have new wheels and tires but i don't think it's bad balancing because at the same speed it would be smooth then later on rough.

for sure i have the drivetrain clunk. is this the cause? it's pretty annoying.

I had the "clunk" fixed about 2 years ago. My wife and I recently took a 5 hour drive to Cape Cod and back and she complained about excessive vibration in her seat. I'm also hearing a droning sound on the highway around 70 MPH and experiencing steering wheel vibration around 65 MPH. I'm due for svc next month and will have everything checked out. I did find, however, a Lexus TSB (#DL001-08) that refers to this type of problem on "03-'08 GX models. The fix is covered under the 72 mo/70K miles Powertrain warranty.

just looked up that tsb and it describes the exact situation.

the only issue is the GX has 115k miles so way over the mileage. i will write to lexus and see if they can do any goodwill on the 2 fixes. it's obviously an issue.
