Just bought a year old GX. Didn't really understand the whole KDSS thing, and now I'm just figuring out what it is, how much I like it, and that my GX does not have it.

Any ideas on if this can be retrofitted? Probably not cheap, but maybe worth it to me.

Just taking a stab at this, but it would be $$$$. The dash cluster should already have a KDSS light even if your GX did not come with it, just not illuminated. But add the ECU, and the hardware and the price would be in the thousands I would think. The wiring should be present though.

Perhaps someone else can chime in.

You're better off selling your GX or trading it in for a GX with KDSS. The parts alone from Lexus would easily be over $5K, then finding someone reputable to install. Way too much work, when you can get a GX with KDSS and have warranty.

Thanks for the info. I was afraid of that, but it certainly makes sense. Sure wish I'd figured that out sooner. I do a fair amount of back-country mountain driving, so I'd like the extra twist from the KDSS along with the tighter suspension on road. My GX wallows like boat.

How can you tell if a GX has KDSS?

The KDSS vehicles have an cylinder with an accordian boot attached to the front and rear sway bars. Also, if you look at the front end under the engine, the skid plate cover will have emphasized downward bulges just inside the front wheels.

Good thing about not having KDSS is that if and when the time comes to repair the suspension, it will not be as expensive as having the KDSS system.
