Weird DVD Nav issue
So, I bought a DVD from ebay for a 4th gen nav v7.1. The disc is used, but oem and I verified that it is for a 4th gen system. My vehicle is a 2005 GX and, according to documentation, uses a 4th gen nav system. Well, the disc didn't work. I can't quite remember the error...but it had something to do with no being able to find the map data. The disc looks brand new.
Anyhow, thats not my problem per se. What happened after being ticked the ebay guy wouldn't refund my money was I went and DL'd a v7.1 disc for a 2-3gen Nav system and tried it. It worked. It works great with no problems.
SO my question: Why does my 05 GX work with a 3gen Nav disc? Did they switch mid year? I bought this car used from a reputable non-Lexus dealer. Why would it have an older Nav? I got a good car fax report from it too. It was a one owner car that was traded in.
any ideas?
Thanks!

Yeah, I am aware of that.
My point is not which software version, but the fact that my system recognized a disc meant for gen3 navs when I have a 2005 and suppose to have a gen4 nav system. My nav system did NOT recognize my gen4 disc like it should have.
I was mostly wondering if maybe they switched the nav systems mid year or something or the possibility that an older system was installed in my vehicle(?)
Thanks!

You may have a '04 and don't know it.
