Default door ajar light

both this winter and last winter as it gets colder my GX will indicate that a door is ajar and the overhead lights come on and then within a few seconds they both go out. this seems to occur when accelerating from a stop and resolves once the vehicle gets over about 15 mph. in my estimation this seems to be related to the rear cargo door as if it partially opens just enough to let the sensor knows its slightly open. the dealer has been unable to duplicate it and it only happens when its around freezing or lower. any ideas???

I have that issue as well. It HAS to be the cargo door switch/latch assy. I am going to try the "revised" assy that was released a few years ago.

Default Same problem with '06 after door switch replacement

I have the same problem. Strong acceleration causes the dome light to come on briefly and door ajar indicator on dash. I moved the rear passenger door switch to the cargo door and did not correct the problem. Unplugging the switch seems to resolve but not a good long term solution. Could it be something with the door geometry? This one has me stumped.

Thanks,
Steve

I was looking at my rear door switch, although I don't have that problem in my 08. In winter plastic and rubber shrinks. On mine there is a black plastic button on the operating barn door, that contacts that switch. Try adding a rubber bumper on the face of the pastic contact on the operating door, not the switch. Like what you put on the back of kitchen cabinet doors, that self stick kind, maybe 1/8 inch thick. This will push the button in further, since the switch is not adjustable in the door frame. It may be enough to stop the nuisance. Worth a shot and does cost much, or take time to do it. Let us know if it works or not.

Had the same issue back in the fall and it was the door pin switch on rear cargo door. Order a new one from Sewell:

COURTESY LAMP (FOR BACK DOOR) SWITCH ASSEMBLY 8423160070 $13.76 - See item # 84235 in their diagram here

Had to wait a few days for it to arrive but swap out took all of 5 min w/ 10mm socket. In the mean time, you can try the extra bumper or reach in thru the jack cubby and disconnect the plug.

Good luck

i just used double sided padding tape and put it behing the contact switch (sensor) of the cargo door contact increasing it's outward protrusion by 2mm and that did the trick, thanx again

Genius, I will have to try this out. My Gx also has this problem on colder nights or rainy nights. Enough of a problem that I have to park it backwards up my driveway since gravity is enough to set it off the alarm at 4am.
