Default GPS / Nav System Override Help

Hi -

Relatively new owner (bought my CPO 2006 GX in June 2008), and getting frustrated by the inability to enter/modify my route while moving. I understand that this isn't the safest thing, and that Lexus is simply protecting themselves, but from someone who (theoretically) can manage a BlackBerry one-handed while driving, adding new route info is relatively simple.

My dealer told me about one-time overrides (something about hitting 5-6 keys in a row), but these must be performed every single time I get in the vehicle, which IMHO is unacceptable.

Isn't there a permanent solution that I could perform in order to grant my wish?

Thanks in advance for your help!

David

You can try the "ultimate lockpick" by www.coastaletech.com. It basically does the override sequence by touching one corner of a screen which then unlocks the nav and phone features until you turn the car off. Easy install behind the radio. Company is a little hard to deal with - very hard to ever get a hold of anyone via phone or email. I am, however, pleased with the product in my 05. Better than cutting wires.

Interesting alternative - I'll check it out. Thanks!
