Picking up my 08 Blizzard pearl GX in the morning with 3 miles
Now my question is the AUX port in the front center console up by the seat heaters? Im told you can plug into that from the ipod?

Then Im looking on the Lexus website and they have an IPOD interface kit? Im thinking Im going to need the lexus interface kit to use all the controls on the steering wheel and display IPOD info on the NAV screen??? Help me out

 

Go Vaistech: my Lexus sales woman said their iPod unit's functionality paled to that of Vaistech. For comparison, I'm using Vaistech's XM set-up and it kicks butt.

 

OK, i plugged my iPod into the aux port in our '08 GX and it works fine. I bought a plug (check eBay or RadioShack I'm sure). When I hit "CD/aux," the nav screeen said "aux was in play mode" or something similar. Steering wheel controls don't control the iPod, but then you already know that. The only odd thing is that the volume is quite a bit lower from my iPod than from any other source (XN, FM, CD changer, etc).

So Im guessing if we get the Viastech/lexus interface we can use the steering wheel controls to control all the ipod functions, plus it willl show on the nav screen.

Yes, vaistech and your steering wheel controls will work together! It's sweet with my XM and it will be the same for your iPod.

I just picked up my new '09 GX & the steering wheel controls work with the IPOD.

Making the iPod interface standard equipment would be sweet! Lexus could have done it, but their web info makes me think "no change from '08."

No, the volume control works on the wheel and the deck, but the next track stuff doesn't through the aux port in my '08. Sorry for the confusion on that one!

Sorry guys I guess I didn't really know exactly what I had since
I just got the '09 vehicle. I just went and took these pics and the
dealer did install the Vais IPOD unit. I plug my IPOD into a
connector in my glove box. So thats why my steering wheel controls work?
