Should I purchase 07 GX470 with 55k?
I figured the best way to answer my question would be to ask the real experts. I have the opportunity to purchase a 2007 GX470 with 55k miles for $24,000 at auction tomorrow (friend is a dealer). It has nav/dvd. I've never owned a car with so many miles, but Lexus has such a fantastic reputation. Should I be concerned with the high mileage? The car has already been checked by my mechanic.

Should not be any issues what so ever and it's a great price. %%K is nothing on a Toyota. My '04 currently has 68K on the clock and runs like a well oiled machine. Simple maintenance: O&F, cabin filters, rotate tires, etc. Aside from drive shaft thump which was fixed a long time ago, only issue I've had was a ride height sensor (replaced under warranty). They are bullet proof SUVs compared to the 5 Explorers I had previously. Can't go wrong.
Good luck

My $.02.
If my limited experience with Lexus is any indication, it'll age better than most. However, it'll show its age in a number of ways as it gets older and you'll notice. It's not going to be like new forever! IMHO, lower mileage trumps the model year especially with higher mileage new models that have lived short but busy lives like the one you've found.
If it weren't so cheap, I'd say pass. If you were paying street prices for it, I'd say trade down in mileage and model year for a less used GX. Or, just hold out for a lower mileage model.
Assuming you weren't getting such a good deal, another way to look at is the mileage on the odo after you pay off the bank. Or, at some future date. If you're doing a 60 month loan and only drive 10K miles a year, how are you going to feel about making your payment on a truck with 100K miles? I say this from experience. Even if you're not making payments and intend to keep it awhile, how are you going to feel with 100K miles on the odo?
P.S. Make sure it's still under warranty. Make sure there's no funny business by calling Lexus or your local stealership with the VIN.

Thanks
I appreciate the feedback, especially regarding having so many miles in just a few years. I was actually going to pay cash so I would not have a car payment, but I found an 07 with 13k miles for $37,000 on craigslist. Might have to suck it up and get that one.

Is the 40K miles worth $13K?
Your $24K price is fantastic despite mileage assuming it's in OK condition in and out and has a clean title.
P.S. What was I thinking in my earlier post? Isn't the factory warranty out at 50K miles?!
