Default common mods right after taking delivery

Hey all, as I have mentioned in a previous post, I am in the process of purchasing a GX within the next few months. Coming from an Infiniti Qx4, there are certain features I have noticed through research that my Q has that the GX does not; chief among which includes rear heated seats and xenon's from the factory. I was just wondering what some common mods you GX owners have done that you considered were "must haves" that the GX did not feature. I'll start first (in no particular order): xenon kit, front window tint, black wheels with semi-beefier tires (for a more AT look), and transfer of my Pioneer AVIC-F90bt head unit from my Infiniti into the Lexus. Feel free to post more than four if you'd like, those are just the ones that I had off the top of my head. Looking forward to ideas and inspiration, thanks!

Sounds like you've hit most of them already.

I've had my car for 2 weeks... here's what I've done so far:

new carpeted floor mats all around
HID kit
Bull bar
fog lights for the bull bar
new PIAA yellow fog light bulbs for the stock fogs

doing next:

tint front windows
get black wheels with larger tires
some sort of roof basket perhaps
tow hitch
ipod hook up
rear dvd
etc...

I also have an appt to have the car detailed to bring it back to new car luster.

For the ipod hook-up, I would recommend one the the Vaistech units -- relatively easy to install. I also hardwired in a Valentine 1.

I fully agree with QX2 on the HID, yes I think the best in the market is the FX and Acura lenses, they have the best cut and color. Unmatched. They are the best in wide angle clear lens . I have not yet opened the GX headlamp, but i do want to know is the lens replaceable on the GX.

So far--
HID kit 4300K
Tinted Windows
Clear bra

Want to do soon!
Ipod Adapter kit--Either Lexus or ViasTech
18" 4-Runner Rims or Just Chrome Stock Lexus Rims
HID Fog Lights or put nice White Bulbs in?

Dr.V--You have Pics of your Fogs yet? How do you like the light output. Im thinking though for the price of PIAA bulbs I could throw a few more bucks and go with HIDS?

Tint and clearbra, otherwise loving my bone stock GX! Although I am throwing around the idea of headrest monitors and some HIDs, nothing to drastic.

I think I paid something like $49 from tirerack for PIAA fogs.

They are definitely brighter... I chose the ion yellow for something different. Head on, they're just bright white, but from the sides they give off a yellow glow.

I was waiting to take pics with the HID's installed, but I can take some pics today/tonight for you.

I haven't even hooked up my aux fog lights on my bull bar yet...

I'll add another one...the taillights from the newer model GX's (08-09 I believe) that are just red/clear; no amber. Look much cleaner and modern IMO.

Exactly, I forgot to mention, taillights. I just got mine I think they like $270 for pairs.

If you guys are looking to replace the projector lamps in the GX, I heard that the LS430 has the BEST projectors, with a better cutoff and wider and farther beam...

And this is a Lexus forum so it should be easy research on that. I got that suggesetion from non-Toyota/Lexus forums.

LOL" If you guys are looking to replace the projector lamps in the GX, I heard that the LS430 has the BEST projectors, with a better cutoff and wider and farther beam..."

As far LS430 is they are single xenon projectors only :, no highs only lows.....
To get the best adaptive beam with high and lows the TL Acura Projectors are the worlds best, next stands out is the FX which are clear lens. The LS430 fresnel lens has got only brightness, but when it comes to cut and color, The first one TL is the Godzilla among them.
I suggest you go to hidplanet.com/forums and register, then browse through the website and youll learn very much. Also, this is the best place to buy everything you need.

I stilll dont see whats the problem putting HIDS bulbs on our stock projectors? No, they are not perfect but damn close and well worth it for only 199. Nice cutoff, no blindness, just nice white light
