Usually carmax is always more expensive then everywhere else. I just bought 2005 Lexus GX470 with 39k miles. I searched for months before I found. So I think 2003 or 2004 shouldnt be, more then $20k. Also consider autotrader.com
craigslist.com and ebaymotors.com. Normally dealer would charge you $150 for inspection (very basic), and independent shop somewhere $75.

What kind of warranty are they giving you? Did you ask if they have replaced the defective drive shaft which was on the TSB?

Unless the dealer sweetened the pot, his truck would just be covered under the remainder of the original factory warranty which is 4 yrs 50k mi. The drive shaft is covered under the drivetrain warraty for 6 yrs / 70k mi. The truck you are looking is out of the basic bumper-to-bumper warranty, but assuming it's not an early 2003 it will still be under the drivetrain warranty. If I were in your shoes I would keep looking and pick up a CPO lower mileage vehicle with some of the original factory warranty available. Who knows you may even find a dealer so desperate to move it off their lot they are offering a 100k mi warranty. Be patient shop around.

Its a Certified Pre Owned "CPO" lexus. That means it comes with a 3 year 100K miles tacked on to the stardard 4 year 50K. The TSB for the driveshaft was completed on the truck at 35K. Lexus CPO program is so good that kind of work is covered on a CPO car even after the standard warranty has run out.

Yup that's right CPO does come with an extended warranty my bad. But I believe it's actually 3yrs from date of sale and 100k miles which ever comes first.

Yes my bad it starts at the time you buy the car. Thats why i think it makes more sense buying a CPO toward the end of the standard warranty.

Best Lexus dealership in the metro area to include the best service dept. Purchased both my Lexus's there. I know the GM from my days working at Nissan, good guy and it shows in how he runs his dealership. Seth in new car sales and Chris in service are where it's at.
I was up there a week or so ago and they had a really silver and a couple of nice used black '06 GX's on the lot. Not sure if they are still there or not. Their prices are usually a bit higher, but their CPO cars are pretty cherry. That said, I found Rockville is also willing to really work with you on price to get a deal done, especially in today's market, so don't get turned off by the asking price.

Also some of the best cookies in town yes Chris is the man I heard he's been there 20+ years. I've talked to him a few times already and he knows his stuff.
It wasn’t easy to get my price from them but it wasn’t sleazy at all. I think it took me about 1 1/2hrs to close the deal but at the end I got my price. This was only because of the market and even how slow Lexus is these days. But your right about their cars they are super clean. INside\Outside of our GX was spotless. All 4 tires were about 75% which pass's CPO specs and they had just replaced the brake pads. You’re generally going to pay about 2-4k more for a CPO depending on how much the dealer is in the car to get it to CPO spec's. I’m thinking with our GX they didn’t have to invest too much $$ so that’s why we got a pretty fair price. I would check all the CPO GX’s in the area before deciding to go with CarMax. Good luck with your search.
