Default GX470 Seatbelt Alarm

Does anyone know how to turn the seat belt alarm on and off? I found the thread for the RX350 but that sequence does not work. I bought my GX470 in 2003 and had the dealer disable it. I have taken it back to them recently to have it re-enabled (I have become aware that I drive a bit too far before I buckle up!) and they say they cannot do this. Very frustrating since they were the ones that turned it off years ago. Any help?

As far as I know, GX has only visual alarms (lights on the instrument cluster and on the passenger side of the center dash). No audio alarms. That would explain why it was so easy to disable it and impossible to enable? :-) I may be wrong though.

Yeah, I've never heard any noise come out of my 2006.... I never put my belt back on after getting the mail and driving up my driveway.

My 2004 and my 2009 both had a seat belt buzzer that I dis-abled.

DrVolkl...did you buy your 2006 brand new from the dealer?

No, I actually bought it used just about a month ago.

Interesting...

My car came from the East Coast... New York city to be exact. (I had all the prior owners Nav points, etc.)

Ok that probably means the previous owner did the procedure
to get rid of the seat belt reminder buzzer. It drove me nuts
and I did away with mine about two months ago.

I bought my 2006 new. No buzzer straight out of the dealer. And, NO, I did not request it to be disabled. Weird.

I had a 05 GX, no seat belt buzzer right from the factory. The mystery continues

This worked to turn off the seat belt buzzer on my 2009:

(you still get the 3 chimes, but the very annoying buzzer will be gone)

1. Turn the key to the ON position, foot off the brake.

2. Press the trip reset button couple of times until the ODO is displayed (not trip A or B)

3. Turn the ignition to the LOCK (OFF) position

4. Unbuckle the driver's seatbelt if it was buckled.

5. Turn the key to the ON position again press the start button twice. when the dash lights comes on, press and hold the trip reset button and count a slow 12 seconds. (editor's note, hold it more like 30 sec)

6. While still holding the trip reset button, buckle the driver's side seatbelt.

7. And the odometer display should read "b ON" or "b OFF". toggle the beep OFF with the trip reset.

8. The process should be completed when you unbuckle or turn the key off.
