Anyone knows why the sunroof rattles?
Im sure a lot of people here experienced their sunroof rattling especially when its opened. If anyone investigated this issue on their own and know how to fix it, please feel free to share

Had what might be that issue when I bought the car (in 07?) - it was only when the sunroof was open, and only on the passenger side. I wedged a piece of paper under the plastic guard and it went away temporarily. When my wife was driving, I heard the rattle again...and it turned out that the plastic guard piece wasn't fully seated. Pressed it back on - snap - and no problems since.

I have found that the sunroof on my GX, and GS for that matter, rattles when the shade cover is fully opened.
What works for me in temporarily fixing the rattle is moving the shade cover up 2 inches, basically covering 10% of the sunroof.
The rattle is a common problem in the GS vehicles...good luck.

exactly normally the trims do make this rattling noise, it is bit annoying, there is no fix,but all you can do is replace the trims, which are hard to get, maybe look at the scrapyard for spares.

Took my LS in for a rattle fix yesterday (under warranty). My local dealer has the owner fill out a form for each noise they are investigating, and - of the 10 or so questions on the form (some of which require short essays!) - there are two near the bottom:
> Does this happen with the moonroof open / closed?
> Does this happen with the moonroof shade open / closed?
It must be quite a common cause for them to explicitly call it out like that.

GX470 could you check on the roof side slide garnish if the condition is ok , which have got guide rail cover both sides. this is fitted to a bracket which has two small screws at one end and other end 1 housing bracket single plate with 2 screws, Remove this part clean up the dust within this railing, ensure not to tamper with the roof drive gear, placed right in the top front center of the glass. You can also remove the housing frame and the sunshade trims, maybe do some preventive maintenance, by removing the dust with a soft brush and grease the railings. The housing frame has got two screw either side with a bracket, for removal, but a peice of advice not to tamper with the stopper adjustments. The installation is the reverse order of the removal. If my mail has confused you here is what needs to be done in order.
1. Remove the roof lining which has 3 screws.
2. Remove the sliding guide rail cover LH and RH side.
3, Remove the trims
4. Clean up the dust with a brush or soft flannel cloth or if you have a blower,(be prepared for the dust to shower inside of your compartment. You could place a cover on the consoles.
5. Grease lightly the required areas where the slide runs on the rail.
fit all of it back the reverse way.
cheers
