Default I decided I will share my story about Lexus key.

My wife lost master key. So I went to the dealer, and dealer told me you need to buy master and then you need to reflush the ECU.

Cost:
$257 for the Key
$247 to reflush the ECU.
So I bought uncut key from ebay. It turns out to be that every chip inside of the key has own id number (usually its 10 digits). So the key that I bought from ebay was useless.

So I found locksmith who has experince in Transponder keys. He sold me brand new original key for $170 and he charged me $120 to reflush the ECU and program the key. In case anybody needs his service 818-648-9959.

Please note that I am not a affilated with this locksmith in any way.

Eugene.

Thats not a bad deal, you save yourself a $100. Is he a special locksmith or does he specialize in cars.

He specialize in cars that require key programing. Mostly cars that has key with transponder. If you know your chip ID number you can order on ebay.

I know tell me about it. If you have master key, to program the second key is very easy. You can do it yourself or locksmith can do it for you, for $30.

I assume the "master key" is the big one with the remote on it....? I just bought a used 2005 GX470...and was given three keys. The big one, another black one with no remote, and the wallet key with the chip in-betted in it. Is that everything? or should there be TWO remote keys?

also - how do I go about getting another remote key made?....it is only a matter of time before I will need it!

Thumbs up Goodwill Master Key

Called Lexus 800. Told them I have both an RX and GX and we are a 100% Lexus household and asked if there is anything they can do to help me with another master key. Took about a week for them to respond but they agreed to give me a master key for free (goodwill).

Talk about service!

My dealer had to call Lexus to confirm the offer that was given to me. When I picked up the vehicle, I already had both keys. They laser cut the keys and reprogrammed it.

thanks defender... I call the dealer last week and they mentioned that there is another option wherein key program once laser cut could be done at home also. You dont need to got the dealer.. And I asked him whether he would have a printed copy. They mentioned they dont distribute this to public. Wow. Toyota Trade secrets. The reprogamming lasts 45 mts only.
