Default Armrests?

I just purchased a 2006 GX470 for the wife and noticed that the armrests are very narrow and are not very comfortable. While I was at the lexus dealership I sat in a 2009 and saw that they redesigned the armrests. They are wider and have more padding. Is it possible to get a set of the new style armrests and put them in my 2006?

Did you check with the dealer? Check with your local salvage yard, they may be able to locate it through their network, although I would highly doubt that the junk yard will sell just the arm rests - they usually sell the entire seat.

I would definitely like wider & cushier arm rests in my '05. I'm going to the dealer for svc on Friday. I'll take a look at the 2009, if they have one, and ask (i.e., if an answer isn't posted here before then).

Called the dealer and asked him if it was possible and he said it was but when he gave me the pricing I will keep my old armrests. And it was.......$600.00 each.

Bob.....

Still might be worth looking into. Most of the cost might be labor.

Copied a picture from the Lexus Website, but armrest looks the same as my '04. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

That was no labor.

They do not look that much different than in my '05. I couldn't tell how to take the old arm rests off last night. It could be simple and I just don't see it, or very difficult and I don't want to bother with it. If they are $600 each according to Got4wd, then I'll pass.

Bob, yes you are rite, except the following difference even i noted, the seat pitch on the hand rest is wide by 1.1/2 inch, that mean they have provided a broader seat, but the gap between the driver and co driver seems reduced, On general it looks same. The padding is softer when you place the arm on the hand rest, maybe becoz of the new supple leather.

Add that stupid arm rest with the barn door to the bad design list on the GX.

Mann.....

I strongly suspect that the Arm Rests are interchangeable.

I was looking at my '04s and the rear looks about the same width as the New ones. Mine taper toward the front but the New ones stay the same width from Back to Front.

A call to Sewell Lexus Parts might be more imformative.

Capi have a look at the snap... The pitch what i mean was seat edge from door side to other seat edge, Lucky i had the tape and it was broad. Now coming to the handrest, they are bit tapered. They have smog sensors fitted on the vents which i never new. Are the earlier models having it? The rear seats middle seat is broader than the earlier model. I compared mine with the 09 model, Mine is quite narrow to the newer model.
