Not sure of the replacement cost but expect it is VERY expensive from the dealer. I recommend evaluating the driving/fidgiting characteristics of any drivers as someone might be digging into the leather with their rings, using some type of hand lotion that damages the leather (doesn't seem likely), or otherwise contributing to the damage somehow. The wheel on my 93K mile GX still looks like new, FWIW.

Also, FWIW, I saw a post a year or two ago where a guy had replaced 2 Lexus steering wheels (@ $1000+ each, IIRC) due to unexplained "pitting" on the wood. Then he discovered that his wife had been absent mindedly digging her rings into the wheel while driving.

My GX470 did the same thing, so I bought a brand new replacement wheel (tan leather) and traded the car into the dealer the next week...so I never actually installed the wheel...If you have tan interior, I would possibly sell you the wheel and get it out of my closet.

Send your wheel to craftcustoms.com. I bought an old Supra a couple years ago to restore. The wheel was horrible. I mailed the wheel to them to be re-skinned. They wrapped it in new factory spec. leather. It looks brand new and I couldn't be happier.

It should be pretty simple to replace. You will need to disconnect your airbag. When I did it on mine BMW, I disconnected battery, and then took the airbag out.
