lexus warranty purchase - one month out of warranty
I have a leased GX that I thought I was going to turn back in. The lease ran over the warranty period by a couple of months. I thought I was going to get rid of the car so I didn't purchase the warranty.
Now I'd like to keep it and I'd like to purchase a warranty for it. I've only got 43k on my 05. Can I still get a warranty from Lexus? If not, is there another option that somebody could recommend?

yes there is a option for extension of the lease warranty, but they are very specific to certain dealers who wish to give to. You may to check this out, but expired ones usually does not matter, as there is grace period wherein you can extend it, Check out with the dealer itself. They may help you, but it also cost few bucks higher than the normal one.

I contacted Mercury for an extended warranty for my mother-in-law's 2005 RX330 and they quoted me ~$2400 for their Platinum (bumper-to-bumper) 7/100000 plan. Did not sound like a good deal to me at that time.

greetings all...I just bought an 04 GX with 40K miles. Black with tan and loaded. So far I love the car! The problem is mine is past the 4 year limit for a lexus extended warranty. I actually bought the car from a ford/Lincoln dealer and passed on their extended warranty. God only knows how long they'll be around. Any thoughts on the best plan to get an extended warranty. I've been burned by third party warrany companies going under once before.

Since you've leased the vehicle and know its history, the question is based on your experiences did it have many issues? If it did then I'd agree that you should look into extended warranty. If not then just keep on driving it with no warranty and keep your fingers crossed. You'll probably end up saving a few hundred if not a couple thousand by not getting the warranty.
Warranty is just like gambling..i.e. your hedging that their may be an expensive issue. Just my $0.02.
