GX470 Backup Camera?
Hello,
I just purchased my first Lexus!! it is a 2003 gx470 with 30,000 miles!
I have a lot of questions.. such as on my navigation screen if I hit the display button I get a camera off option.. Does this mean that I have a backup camera and I just have to turn it on??
I am still playing with the other toys but all tips and observations about this vehicle are appreciated... Thanks

Take a look on the rear door above the license plate. If you have a camera, it will be located there. I have a 2003 and I installed the NavTool unit and got an aftermarket camera. It works great.

The early 04's did not have the back up camera or the tire pressure monitors - but those were added later in the production year. I know because I bought my GX early in the fall of 03 (an 04 model) and it didn't have the camera. That winter I had a neck injury and ended up with some fused vertebrae that made it impossible to look over my shoulder to back up - so in the spring of 04 I traded my first GX for another 04, that had the camera. Unfortunate timing, but very worth paying the extra for me. Back then, there were not the after market options to add either the camera or the tire pressure monitors that are out there today.
