What's in the 60K or 65K service? Is it recommended?

Default What's in the 60K or 65K service? Is it recommended?

Hello, I am new to the forum. My wife's 05 GX470 has 63K miles on it and it's been running very smoothly. Just the typical oil changed/tire rotation and changed the cabin/air filter recently.

Anyone here have an idea on what the dealer charge for a 60K or 65K service? What is included in the service? Is it highly recommended?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to CL!

The service cost will vary depending on the what the dealer can sell you. The best thing you can do is check your owner's manual and stick with the factory recommended services, which in this case will include among other things changing the transmission fluid and differential fluids which unfortunately drives up the cost, but it's a necessary evil.

Has anyone here peformed the service at their dealer?
If so, what did the dealer charged you?
Trying to avg. out the cost, I want to go in there with some information, if not, the service manager will rob me blind.

I just had mine done at a local toyo dealership. They charged me $340 alot of it was "inspection" but the biggies were transmission, drive shaft/differential fluid change, new air filter, oil change, coolant change and some other stuff that was probably on the list that I don't recall right now.

I wish I could trust my local Toyota dealership. I've taken my GX to them twice now for oil changes and each time they ask if it's a 6 or 8 cyclinder. Then when I asked the tech not to wash it afterwards, he looks me in the eyes and says, "Yeah, probably a good idea, I wouldn't want them to wash it either". I just get the feeling that something is going to go wrong, so now I'm going to just take it to the Lexus dealer, who at 15K miles charged me something like $400, including my cabin air filter which they replaced without asking (but I was dumb enough to pay it too).
