Could somebody tell me where exactly is the PCV valve location on the GX. What exactly is the function of this valve, is it anyway related to the Emission ?? Appreciate your replies.
No, I was looking at the service history of my vehicle, and happen to see that every 5k miles this has been replaced by the dealer, any reason, this has to be replaced so often.
Probably to prevent it from getting gunked up. PCV valve vents the oil that is vaporized in the block back into the intake tract to burn it before emitting it out the tailpipe. Because there is oil in the vapor, it eventually builds up on stuff. It's a big issue with turbo cars that tend to have more blowby and thus more oil in the vent lines; incidentally, oil mixed into the intake stream also effectively reduces the octane level of the combustion charge. That's why we turbo people use catch-cans to condense the oil out before the intake, particularly where we have lots of IC piping. Anyway, that was a major digression, but if its a cheap part, it's probably replaced as preventative maintenance.

I replace the PCV valve on my 2005 GX470 with 80K. It's located near oil filler, and the PCV's tube almost points to oil filler.
I tried 2 times. The first time the vehicle is kind of cold. I waited a while after driving and replaced all 4 driver's side spark plug and then tried to remove the PCV. It's too tight to be removed.
After some research, I tried the 2nd time while the car is hot, right after driving. I did it this time.
The old PCV is in brown color, oily, but still working fine.
My question, if the pink thread paste drop into engine, is that OK?
