Hi,
I have an 08 GX470. I just used some Wurth Cockpit Cleaner on the vinyl and plastic interior parts. I've used this same product on an 08 ES350 and an LS400 that I own without any problems. However, when I started to clean the center console on the GX, the product took the finish off!! I'm going to email Wurth to see if they'll pay for the replacement but I don't hold out much hope. The stuff is designed to clean plastic and vinyl car interiors. But I just found this attached chemical description of it and the description of the product on Amazon.com... I wonder what a new console costs (gulp!)?
Product Description: Wurth Cockpit Cleaner protects and maintains plastic and vinyl parts. The antistatic formula collects dust while it cleans. Does not contain silicone. 10.1 oz.

Jim I have to say this, I had never used a Cocpit cleaner for the entire GX life with me, but it did crack on a fine morning when I began to start the car, When I approached the dealer, they were passing the buck on me saying I had used solvents or cleaners, but when i told them never, they never agreed to my story,I thought i was wasting my time, and I outsourced from my business partner in Singapore - Toyota, at a much cheaper cost. Now that I see many members are hving the similar problem, it is manufacture defect of a particular lot i feel.

Replaced the bezal around the shifter on my GX after the finish got damaged and if I remember correctly the part was like $235.
Lexus should have spent more time on R&D here. The finish on this piece is NOT durable. I've heard of coffee being spilled on it and if not whipped up right away will discolor the finish. Does not make much sense right around your cup holder does it.
