Default New to me ride '04 GX

Took the plunge yesterday and picked up a 2004 CPO GX470 at Lexus of Clearwater. 49k miles, ML stereo, tow package. Couple of nicks and scratches that I thought would have been handled. Not sure how I am going to address this as it is an '04.

Nice looking rig. Welcome to the club.

Whats "CPO" mean? How much did you pay for it? It is a 5 year old rig, so scratches and nics are part and parcel, but I hope you commented on every minor problem and had them adjust the price.

When I was negotiation on my 2004 GX with 72,000miles, I brought the price down from 22K to 18K, you would of thought I was buying a Chevy Suburban. I kept saying things like "Who buys V8's anymore, SUV's are dinasaurs, gonna need new tires in a year, look at those stone marks on the front.. etc"

If you got a good deal on the rig, nics and scratches are really not that big of an issue. I have had mine for a little over a month:

I paid $24k. CPO stands for Certified Pre Owned. It came with a comprehensive 3 year Lexus warranty up to 100K miles total. Also, I was able to work a generous trade allowance for my 2006 Pilot.

I had to get a 7 pole to 5-flat adapter yesterday. I then realized the pin hole in my current ball mount wouldn't line up so I had to buy a another one of those.

Towed the boat home from storage and it rode great! I looked in the GX manual and it talked about lowering the rear end, turning the vehicle off then raising it back to neutral. I didn't mess with any of that. I could hear the compressor work as I lowered the coupler on the ball.

I did check my trailer when attached for level and it is a little low at the tongue. I may experiment with flipping the bar, but that may make it too high.

Do you have your bar with the ball raised are dropped? I'll post a picture of it hooked up as we are going to try and dodge the rain just south of Daytona.

Yeah the leveling suspension is great for towing isn't it.

My hitch has a 3 1/2" drop which ended up being to low so I flipped it and the trailer sits more level now. I still think I need to adjust my trailer though as it seems to be sitting a nose heavy.

Post some pics of the new rides when you get a chance.

Here's a shot with the boat attached. We were able to spend a couple of hours on the water and just missed the rain. Not the best picture.

I'm using a 2.5" drop and it is a little low using a level. I can turn it over which will result in a 3.5" lift over where it is now. I'll probably try that and check it with a level.

Yes it is. Top speed is around 47 with 2 adults. Yesterday there were 4 of us and it topped out around 45.

What made you switch from Pilot to GX?

Here's the story. I had a boat that weighed around 3,500lbs that was stolen from my driveway back in January. It was recovered stripped of anything of value. I received insurance proceeds and sold the bare hull/trailer on Ebay. I knew the new to me boat weighed close to 4,500lbs (tow capacity of the 4wd 2006 Pilot), but until I actually weighed it, I didn't realize that loaded up it was closer to 5,100. That put me in the market for a new tow vehicle. I considered everything from Tundras, Expeditions to the GX. The Pilot was a great vehicle. I had it since new and it had 64K miles when I traded it in.
