Hi everyone,

I'm new to the GX world (a convert from a Land Rover Disco II...went for luxury, capability, AND reliability this time). I bought my GX with 70K on it on 26 June 09 and have absolutely loved every second in it.

I am at a little over 73K right now and know that I need some servicing done at 75K. I don't want to get taken by the dealership telling me to fix everything under the hood, but I also want to make sure I get the important stuff taken care of in order to drive this beauty for many more years.

I did purchase an extended warranty that covers nearly everything but wear and tear items (tires, oil changes, etc. up to 125K or 4 yrs from date of purchase), and although I've done the routine things like oil on my other vehicles in the past, I'm hesitant to void any warranty by doing my oil for the 75K servicing. I will do some homework and read the fine print, but I've heard that not having your vehicle serviced at the dealer or authorized shop could void some of the warranty. Any experience with this? If I did it myself, it would be great for some rec's on filter and oil types.

I am active duty military, so I have access to a fully stocked auto shop on base, if necessary. It would also be great to link up with another GX enthusiast in the Boston area who might be able how to show me a thing or two about working on my GX myself instead of running to the dealer for every little service.

I know this post is a little more routine than normal, but I'm just trying to stay ahead of the game so as to get the most longevity out of this great vehicle!
