At a dealer? It'll be in the $1200 range for just the belt + water pump.

If this is the second time you're changing it, consider getting some other parts changed while the mechanic is in there (the labor is essentially free at this point). Like the front main seal, the idler pulleys, the accessory belt tensioner, etc.

if you can find a Toyota dealer to do the service, they are usually a little cheaper... i did mine a few years back and i think it was like $900 including waterpump, t-stat and accessory belt. the idler puller was good at the time...

Agreed on what Chip said, definitely consider having the serpentine belt tensioner done while you’re at it. It has to come off anyway. I failed to do so, and ended up spending 5 hours on a Sunday doing this a few years later. I work a bit slowly though. Not fun!

Don't cheap out on aftermarket parts like the water pump. Get OEM. I went against my own advise last time and my aftermarket water pump blew after 18 months and my GX overheated. Had to pay labor all over again to have an OEM pump installed. Pay once, cry once.

Don't cheap out, but do know that Aisin is the OEM supplier for timing belt and water pump items, there's a good kit on RockAuto that's probably your best bang for the buck.

I bought the Aisin Kit , thermostat. hoses, coolant and had a reputable shop install it all for around $500.
If you can find a shop that needs the work you can keep the cost reasonable.

Full Circle Automotive in Hickory Md. They have moved. Not sure if they are connected to the one in Baltimore. I would try Certified Auto and Tire in Forest Hill. They did my spring conversion fairly cheap and I know they do transmission replacement so they have skills at a good price.

Default 2nd belt

Do I understand it that this is the second time you're replacing the belt and alot of accessories. Is there a way you know that it is worn. Bought my 2004 a couple years ago in Chicago with 97K miles. It had a sticker under the hood that says it was done at 87K BUT I don't know whether to trust them or not. Soeee, is there a tale tale sign or a way to check the belt. BTW, I really don't want to hijack your thread but if you do a search on timing belt it is ugly. Thank You

I did have my timing belt, water pump, pulleys, etc. changed twice at around 95K mile intervals. I would say check the bolts around the timing belt covers, etc. to see if they looked like they were wrenched on in the near past. Regarding looking at the belt itself, it may be harder. When my first belt was changed at around 90K miles, the mechanic said it was showing some wear (not sure if that was BS or not). When I had the second belt changed at 95k miles, the mechanic said the belt looked really good and did not show any real wear (Aisin belt). On my second belt change they actually had pictures of my car torn down with the new belts on to 'prove' it was done so there was no question that they were in there. But in your case looking at the belt directly may not give you the level of validation you are looking for. Do you know where the belt was changed? If at the dealer, then there should be a record in their system.
