Default I maybe stuck in san diego wth gx 470

Happy Thanksgiving....from a rest area along Interstate I-15!!!!

Problem! Major or minor NEED SOULTION

2004 GX 470 63,000 with orginal Michillen Cross Terrain tires....this unit is only been Lexus dealerships for all scheduled maintance. I do everything by the book as the owner manual states.

Issue: All of a sudden steering wheel wobbles at no more than 40 mph. Unit does drift right ever so slightly......

Was told by a Lexus dealership...San Diego...front end alignment and balance all four tires. Dealer said that they use the dynamic method to balance wheels...
What does that mean and they said 4 wheel alignment is recommended on this unit....CAN A CLUB MEMBER GIVE ME THE REAL INFO....THE TRUTH WILL DO!

Dealer:
4 wheel alignment ...140.00
rotate and balance tires......80.00

Oil change ....70.00

Purchase 4 new tires at 258.00 each...plus 25.00 per tire to balance
Wheels are chrome....

PLUS LABOR AND TAX!!!!!!!!!!

UNIT LOOKS BRAND NEW...NEW SMOKED IN...SHOWS BETTER THAN NEW...EVEN WHEN IT WAS PARKED NEXT TO 2010 GX 460.

I am sitting in a rest area....have an 18 pound Butterball turkey with me...guess I will get some aluminum foil and wrap it up and place in engine compartment....burn up all the gas....

THIS IS NOT A JOKE! I AM REALLY SERIOUS....ANY FEED BACK WILL HELP!

Thank you

could you explain your issue more? and why you're stuck in SD because of this? Is the steering wheel feeling loose and wobbles? Is it still driveable?

YES..THE WHEEL DOES FEEL "LOOSE" and "WOBBLES"

Stopped for a bit....resumed my trip...then as I accelerated..the "LOOSE" and "WOBBLE" started out clear blue sky. Did not do any hard braking..sudden stopping ...nothing at all like that.....I baby this puppy....

Look at previous post and see what the dealership wanted to do.....

Appreciate all the feed back and concern.....I am just afraid to get back on freeway and drive 70 mph max which is the highest this puppy has ever been...and knowing that I have a 375 mile trip back home....

Not trying to blow this out of the water..but just a very concern Lexus owner...

Thank you

Check simple things.

Lug nuts tight.
Wheel bearing loose.

How did it turn out? I'm guessing tread separation/broken belting and you needed a tire replaced. And at 63K on 6-year old tires, you might as well replace them all....

My dads car did something similar but it was at 120k miles. We had to drain out the power steering and refill it and it was good to go. I believe in my dads case the power steering pump was damaged because it was fixed sooner.

Its either tires have uneven tread wear, or alignment problem. I prefer Just Tires or American Tire Depot for alignment needs.
