Default 07 GX Maintenance at 40,000 miles?

I had the major 30,000 mile maintenance done at 33,000 miles which cost me $700 and was wondering what should be done at 40,000 miles? Before I go in to the dealer I'd like to know what others may have had done and what the cost was for the maintenance. Thanks

what did you have done at 33,000? Was this the reccommended service listed in the manual?

One other question... does the gx come with hill assistace similar to the 4runner? I had an 03 runner that would lock solid when stopped on an uphill grade and no sound when I proceeded from a stop. With the gx I find a little roll back and actually at times can hear a grinding when proceeding from a stop on a hill. My guess is it the gears grinding under the strain?? The dealer checked it last time and said there was no problem but it still does this at times.

The best thing you can do is open up your Owner's manual and check to see what is required at the various service intervals. Then make sure the dealer ONLY performs the services specified. It's not uncommon for a dealer, including Lexus, to tac on unecessary/not required "add-ons." What the dealer "recommends" and what Lexus recommends are not often synonymous.

Your SA should have provided you with a detailed/itemized list of what was performed during your 30k mi service for your records. If you are curious, ask him/her to print it out and compare it to what was spelled out in the Owner's manual.

BTW, it's worth mentioning you can get the same services performed at a Toyota dealership and save 40% (all of the parts on your Lexus are Toyota parts).

I have an '07 with 55,000 miles and I haven't done any of the "major" services that Lexus states you should have and have not had any issues. Before the '07, I had an '04 that I put just shy of 100,000 miles and never did any of the "extra" maintenance that Lexus states you should have. I monitored fluids, had oil changed with synthetic every 5,000 miles and had a mechanic look it over at 75,000 miles and everything was fine........

I am glad to hear that you have not had any issues with your vehicles despite not performing any of the services that Toyota/Lexus recommends, but that's irresponsible advise on many levels.
