Default Engine died on my 06 GX today while driving....

Engine died on my 06 GX while driving today... did anyone had similar issue?

It just turned off while driving from work. Thank god I was on the local road... not on the freeway or something...
First, Navigation screen when black then all warning light game on... and finally engine stopped. Now no response from my car what so ever... even doors wouldn't lock manually with key... Car's completely dead at the moment...

I'll find out the problem when I get it tow to Lexus dealer tomorrow morning... but I just wanted to check with you guys and see if anyone had similar problem... thanks.

My guess is the battery shorted out internally.
Good luck, whatever it turns out to be.

I would say ECU problem. Jag had that same problem in the late 90's with their cars. Since it is under warranty just let the dealer handle it.

Question alternator failure

If the alternator failed wouldn"t there be a warning light?

Called Lexus Roadside about a hour ago but no sign of tow truck anywhere..
I guess I'm not considered as an emergency customer....
Anyway, I'll find out soon but I hope it's minor problem...

I would also say ECU. Had a similar issue with a VW Passat a while back.

It was bad alternator! and will be covered under warranty... I feel better now...

Apparently, we have pretty strong battery on our cars... If it's in full power (mine was replaced in Dec) We could be miss small symtoms created by dieing alternator... deeming lights and etc... well... according to dealer person...

WTF?! Your car was a 2006! My car was about 18 years old with 155K miles before the original alternator went out!

and I never had to replace battery at 40,000miles either... I don't know...
I was going to keep my GX for awhile but now I'm seriously considering getting something new... may be that's what Lexus wants...

I wouldn't worry about it. It's not a common problem. I'm on 95+k without a problem knock on wood
