Default Radio volume goes crazy

The radio would be very low then all of a sudden go loud. I did a search and the SC had issues back then with bad amps but nothing with my GX. Anyone have this issue? Its random and not all the time but its there. the only thing i added was a IPOD hookup but that was a year ago.

Vinniety I do know which model you own, but there is a TSB for free replacement, as certain models ( 07-09 models) had this abnormal radio issues, and Lexus issued a TSB for straight forward replacement, and if you are under comprehensive warranty( 48months or 50,000 miles) . Go for it if you meet these conditions.

Mann - I saw that TSB but it doesnt work out for me. I have a 2004. Might be an amp or the radio unit itself. I have GPS if that matters. Event he controls on the steering wheel doesnt do anything.

Any ideas????

I can give an interim solution, pull out the tuner, remove those panel covering the circuitry, and spray some High Flash Point contact cleaner which do not leave any residue. There are lot in the market, go for having above 140F(60c), and do not contain HCFCs .
As what I see some ICs do get overheated with accumulation of dust. Maybe using Electro contact cleaners would help out.
