Don't they always get sales tax? Either the dealer takes it or DMV takes it if you don't have proof you paid it when you go to register it. It would be crazy for a state to leave that kind of money on the table.

For sure, NV and AZ no private party sales tax anymore. OR is a given. That's worth $2K or so on a 2005 depending on tax rate. Hence my auction "deals" have to be smokin' to have a real advantage. Even for personal use, I have to run through my dealer license and pay the tax.
