Default Has anyone ever heard of timing belt that broke?

Just wondering if anyone has actually heard of the timing belt failing on the 4.7 V8 engine? I have heard of those engines with over 200K still running with the original belt , never replaced. I know this is probably foolish, but the belts are said to be very strong. Yes, I know that the 4.7 Toyota engine is an interference design that could damage valves and pistons if the belt fails.

Any horror stories out there? Jerry

As long as you drive like an old lady, should last a lifetime. I sold my 96 lexus es300 at 200k and never had it changed. My trusted mechanic inspected it and said it was fine at 150k. Just do an inspection if you are worried. I don't know how to do that on a 4.7 though.
