2005 gx470.. About to buy, but looking for knowledge
Hello all. I am in the market for a 2005 GX470, I think I found one with 50k miles and asking 24K, excellent condition. I used to own a 1999 GS400 that I bought with 26,000 miles and performed amazing, sold it with 195,000 miles and no issues except ball joints and starter, engine was perfect!
What should I expect from the GX470? Any issues? I need it for the snow and damm pot holes here in NYC. I appreciate any feed back and look foward to owning it.

Check the wheels for pitting/peeling, a common issue.

I went ahead and checked the radiator no issues with rust.
But the wheels have peeling around the air sensors, must have them fixed.
The brakes have alot of fade to them at hard stops from 50mph.
I should have the GX by weeks end.
I hope this engine is as good as the GS400 engine.
Thanks for the input guys.

A week after me
I bought our 2005 at a dealer auction last week, and just officially "rolled" with paperwork in order yesterday. If you search my username, you will find that I asked questions excessively during my search for the right vehicle, and I received a lot of great information from Club Lexus members. My biggest piece of advice would be to ensure what options you want, and don't settle for something less. Most options cannnot be added or are not practical to add later. I spent three months or so considering and doing idle reserach, and over a month searching in earnest to find a GX. Toward the end it was a huge PIA, wherein my thought process ran from williness to travel thousands of miles to just springing for "whatever" locally just to be done with it. I actually flew to CA three times (more or less free, since I work for an airline - nonetheless, three days out of my life) to nail the 05 that we now own. But since I wanted KDSS, NAV, Rear DVD and everything else that a Sport Package includes (not to mention a great deal and a really clean GX), it was worth it.
In addition to the cautions you have already considered, look for dash cracks. There is a thread on them. They are expensive to address.
I'm very pleased with the "new to us" GX 470. Best of luck in your purchase!
