Should I buy a GX
Were thinking of trading in our 2001 RX300. It has been a nice car to own except for the transmission went out at 120k.
We were considering a 2005 GX with 67k miles.
I know the car has many good qualities but what are some of the negatives.
Thanks for your feed back.

I've owned the RX and I traded it in for the GX and couldn't be happier, the V8 engine is a plus for the extra power, but the poor mpg is a downside. But the ride is quite comfortable along with the 7 passenger seating, the downside being the law row there isnt much legroom for a full grown adult so plan on putting your kids back there if you got a full car. Overall great car, go for it!

I have both rx350 and gx470. GX is way more luxurious and plush ride, while the rx is more nimble and agile. Gx uses about 30% more gas and has a very finicky air suspension that is prone to problems. I just put 2 new height sensors in...lucky for the warranty and is very picky about the tires being perfectly round (steering wheel shimmy). I have 2 babies and the RX would be too small for 2 strollers and groceries.

I can't compare with an RX but I came from the toyota 4-runner. I haven't had any issues with my GX...knock on wood. I can't imagine driving anything but a GX or perhaps an LX...although my wife wants an RX perhaps we will downsize once the kiddies get a bit older.

I own a 2006 gx470 as well as a 2001 rx300 Silversport and they are both great cars but I have to say that the gx is overall a better car. The ride is better it's quieter and is has a lot of power considering it has lower horsepower compared to others in it's class. But I am gona have to say that the rear seats are to cramped and the gas mileage is not the best. The gx currently has 82k and they have been trouble free miles. Go for it!!

GX has a more rugged exterior with potential for off-road. More room and power as wel.
RX is more sleek and quieter, but obviously smaller.
Really apples and oranges. Thats why Lexus offers both

My average fuel says 17.9... so for its size and power that is extremely good. My mothers Escalade ESV is 13.4. I was expecting it to be around 14-15 average before I bought mine. I had an X5 4.8is and the best I ever could get average was 16.8 and that was being careful.

I don't have a GX (was shopping for one at one point), but i do own its poorer and less porky twin brother a 03' V8 Limited 4Runner which has been nothing short of a amazing work horse. Absolutely zero problems, been the most reliable car ive owned to date and the engine and transmission work so effortlessly and smooth.

Am I the only one who thinks the 03-09 GX470 seems plushier and morr elegant then current gen? The new one looks nice on the outside but it feels too much like it's 4runner roots of the current gen who feels to me cheaper then the past gen.
