Default From a 4Runner to a GX470

Hi all,

First post here. Migrating over from TR4.org. I traded in my 06 4Runner Sport Edition V8 for an 05 GX470 yesterday. I have not taken delivery of the vehicle yet as the dealer let me take the 4Runner home to take out all the non-factory stuff to get money back from it, and to finish the service on the GX to make it Lexus Certified Pre-Owned. So here is the kicker...

It's a 2005 Meridian Blue GX470 optioned out minus rear DVD. The original owner was a 70 year old man who did the service every three months. He outright sold it back to the dealer for whatever reason.

This will get you, the truck has had MULTIPLE 15K services a year. NEVER has had a 30K, 40K, 50K service. Reason? It's got 19K original miles.

I didn't even know the color existed, I thought I was going to go look at the Nautical Blue which I wasn't sure I was a fan of. So pics right? Here we go...

Welcome to CL, lots of good/smart folks on here. Very nice GX you found there, I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed mine. First mod suggestion... install a rear spoiler.

Very nice find! and sweet color. I'll be interested to hear how you think it compares to the 4runner.

Thanks Koz. While obtaining carpal tunnel from signing docs, I peeked in the GX460. They did a good job I think. Didn't care for it at first, but it grew quick. Congrats on your new ride too!

I will for sure! I loved the drivetrain in my V8 4Runner and am glad to have it in the GX as well. I can't wait, should be ready today!!!!

I already picked up some High Intensity turn signal fluid.

Just messin', I have not even picked up the car yet. Dealer is pokey. I am interested in switching all the front headlamps/fogs to HID for sure. Any suggestions?

Also, where do I look for aftermarket doo dads? I'm used to Toyota's and there is a pretty good aftermarket out there. Seems this one, not so much. Maybe I'll save a few dollars? Riggggght.

JDM LED Directional Mirror Covers<---they look and work great. not too difficult an install.

HIDs are a piece o'cake to do. they are pretty much plug-and-play. the only ones that may possibly give you problems would be the fog lights

i pretty much replaced all of the dull and boring incandescent and LED bulbs in my GX with nice ones some were simple swaps and others required some modification and soldering. definitely worth doing though.

get yourself a coastal e tech lockpick!. these things are awesome and worth every penny!

have fun with your new ride!

nah man, obviously no joke! if you get a set you should have no probs installing it......after all i did all the legwork and posted pictures detailing how to do it and even showed which wires to tap into to make them work properly. i even included a couple of videos to show you them in action. the catch is....once you get them you'll have to put in LEDs because the OEM bulbs on the exterior pale in comparison.

Congratulations! Love that color (LOL, I did own one for 6 years)! It doesn't get any better than a find like this... 19k miles, wow!

For your HID needs, look no further than Steve at XenonDepot (he is a CL member, username XenonDepot) - fantastic product line at reasonable prices, and customer support is even better. I did a headlight kit on my GX several years ago, and recently I did it on the LX, which was more work, and Steve's response time and disposition with questions were amazing.

Congrats again!
