When I fool around with the hand brake on snowy roads, the damned traction control steps in ... "chunk, chunk, chunk" goes the traction control sound from inside the dash. If the RSCA button doesn't turn it off, what in the world does?! Is it even possible?!

Anyone know if the traction control is defeat-able?

The only thing I know of is you push diff lock button and it turns off VSC as you see cause you get the light--but I still think the traction control steps in bit at a more latter time. I know you can get it more out of control when VSC light is on..lol More fun!!

Last winter I was trying to make it up a steep driveway that had a good amount of snow and ice on it. I locked the center differential, and the VSC OFF light came on as it should. But as I tried going up the hill, I had a ton of wheel spin (as is expected) and I can hear/feel traction control still working. If memory serves me right, the light that is a picture of a car with 2 tire tracks behind it would flash on the dash as the traction control came on.

Is there no way to deactivate VSC AND traction control?

Believe the answer is No.

I did some research and found something called the ANDYMOD. There is an electrical connector on the brake master cylinder that will turn off traction control and VSC if the ground circuit is opened. Wiring in a switch that opens the circuit is basically all the ANDYMOD is.

The ANDYMOD is confirmed to work on 2001-2002 3rd gen. 4Runners, but it also works on 4th gen. 4Runners (same V8, 4.7l motor the GX470 has).

Anyone have any info on whether this will work on a GX or not? I am hoping it does.
