For some reason, I like having the 3rd row seats intact. Sort of like having emergency seating available should I ever need it. Sometimes they are folded, sometimes they are down, but most of the time they are in the car. Does it affect my gas mileage? Probably. Do I care? Only marginally. As someone said, if I were truly concerned about gas mileage, I would be driving something else smaller and more fuel efficient.
BUT - if taking out the seats makes you feel better, then by all means, do it. It won't hurt, right?

I'm about 18 around town and I drive with a very light foot. It's all flat here in Vegas and I use Shell or Chevron gas only, 87 octane. I don't know if it's just my gas pedal, but you can actually feel when pressing down a sweet spot before the pedal get a little harder to push. I stay on the easy side of that spot and seems to work well. I fill up maybe once every two weeks and it's in the $50s. Tell ya what, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE what I'm driving and my rear is worth every penny.
